So let's get started without wasting any time

20. Shogo Makishima: (Psycho-Pass)

The villains that stick in mind are the ones who have an almost goal even if only on a surface level you've overcome your body's aging your only worry left is your mind makishima was born into a future where Japan is directed by the Sybil system,

Which measures a person's crime coefficient to determine whether they are a threat to society a rare example of someone Sybil cannot read this person,

Then he aims to take down the system that stripped people of any personal agency it would be a noble cause if not for his unabashed love for murder.

19. Utsuro: (Gintama)

After multiple lifetimes worth of misery, this swordsman eventually split into multiple personalities many of which sought revenge against humanity while the immortal being temporarily found peace through his time as the teacher Shoyo Yoshida his true self,

Eventually reawakened and decided that the only way to experience de*th was to spark a huge war that could kill all suffering,

Although Utsuro debuts quite late into Gintama's massive run he leaves quite an impression due to his connection to Kentucky's past sympathetic backstory and chillingly vacant smile the fact he can take on the entire cast at once doesn't hurt either.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

18. Gilgamesh: (Fate series)

The holy grail war summons heroes from history to duke it out in a battle royale over a grand wish-fulfilling prize in a conflict marked with bloodshed and grueling ideological battles Gilgamesh stands aloof as the king of heroes a being who treats the holy grail war as a mild distraction at best is governed by his hubris and believes all the world's treasures belong to him,

While not the most morally evil servant in fate zero the archer class's self-serving neutrality changes in ultimate blade works where he decides humanity is in desperate need of a calling

Next on the list of anime villains is,

17. Yujiro Hanma: (Baki series)

Baki a child stands alone to face his father known as the ogre no man or beast on earth is stronger than Baki's daddy ogre is an utter unit physically capable of performing feats of strength and endurance well beyond normal human capacities, even when he flexes his back the muscles look like a monster's face brawny as he may be the ogre is also an extremely skilled fighter who has mastered numerous martial arts you'd think people would stop messing with him after the first time he ripped off someone's face bare-handed

Next on the list of anime villains is,

16. King Bradley: (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)

A solid villain in 2003's Fullmetal Alchemist and a brilliant one in 2009's brotherhood king Bradley presents a warm and upbeat facade to the public as the ruler of amnesties in reality the pure is a homunculus puppet installed by father having no other emotions,

Besides wrath Bradley commits countless atrocities without feeling a thing although he does find some joy in humanity's capacity to be unpredictable once Bradley's true identity is exposed in a fantastic twist it re-contextualizes many of his earlier scenes greatly enhancing brotherhood's re-watch ability as a bonus Bradley's fight scenes are also consistently awesome the man sliced apart a tank.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

15. Zamasu: (Dragon Ball Super)

Starting as a god in training Zamasu's pride and hubris led him on a rampage across time all in search of ultimate power the result of it was two godly destroyers,

One version of Zamasu who became immortal thanks to the power of the super dragon balls and,

Another who had taken Goku's body and all of his sane abilities for himself it's no wonder they were able to decimate the entire human populace with ease posing such a threat the entire universe needed resetting just to clean up their mess.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

14. The God Hand: (Berserk)

Rather than one op villain, these demonic near deities are a five for one de*l straight out of hell, they seem to have their talents and tastes for causing suffering they share the ability to warp space bestow godly powers to those they deem worthy, and brand others as would-be sacrifices forever luring in creatures of the astral plane to feast on them,

Along with their newest recruits of Griffith aka Femto the god hand aren't so many beasts to be bested but living nightmares that can influence the mortal world in whatever devilish ways they see fit at least it is true that man has no control even over his own will.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

13. Marshall D Teach: (One Piece)

Villains come by the dozen in oda's epic story but Blackbeard stands as the ultimate terror on the high seas with a career that parallels Luffy's in many ways teach shares the straw hats faith in dreams fondness of adventure and drive to become the next pirate king,

Although he's far more ruthless in pursuing his goals while excessively powerful due to possessing two devil fruits he's not infallible teach comes close to de*th multiple times and it's in these moments we see just how dark his soul is.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

12. Reiner and Bertolt: (Attak On Titan)

For well over a season Reiner and Bertolt were two of the most likable members of the survey corps then the truth came out in a superbly executed reveal Reiner just blurts out that he is the armored titan and Bertolt is the colossal titan,

Two key players in bringing down wall maria and causing the de*ths of so many,

Reiner and Bertolt betrayed not only their comrades but the audience who grew attached to them both characters and especially Reiner became immediately more compelling as a result of the mental burden of their traitorous actions slowly showing to be eating away at their sanity.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

11. Zagred:(Black Clover)

If you prefer long-lasting plot relevance then Patori is probably the pick for you. We get to know his backstory, his motivations, and his character, But I’m a sucker for some demon action so when Zagred came onto the scene,

I was amazed to see not only does he look like pure nightmare fuel,

But he also has some of the most busted abilities that I never imagined.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

10. Pain Aka Nagato: (Naruto Shippuden)

Pain is one of the best antagonists in the naruto series had, and his abilities of the Rinnegan which are my favorite abilities in all of naruto as well as having arguably the best speech in all of the anime with the cycle of hatred pain is like one of the best examples of how to write an antagonist how to build them up and how to give him a proper send-off although you can argue pain being talk no Jutsu is a little bit of a downfall I think him being taught no due to by someone like naruto again a character who he mirrors almost perfectly it did make sense to his entire character I think the legacy of pain would have been much better if naruto had ended at that point.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

9. Meruem: (Hunter xHunter)

The king of the chimera ants Meruem is introduced as the perfect being born to rule everything his nature makes him dismissive of life be it human or chimera starting off as a blank slate he first appeared to be a character born to be the quintessential shonen bad guy at least until he proceeded to break each and every preconception,

Due to his experiences and the endearing relationship he shared with Komugi, Meruem outgrew his predetermined role becoming a monster that learned the value of life even though he could just as easily snatch it away from even the hardiest of hunters

Next on the list of anime villains is,

8. Garou: (One Punch Man)

Human monster Garou is an almost self-aware villain as a child he was enraged by the hypocrisy he saw amongst those who considered themselves heroes and yet still preyed upon the week disillusioned and embittered he sought to destroy this new society by taking down its champions even if he had to live up to the villain,

To do so in some ways Garou is an underdog with his violent tendencies restricted to those of the hero association as he will not attack innocent bystanders hell he even saves them at one point out of every villain to emerge this past century Garou is by far the most humanized.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

7. Frieza: (Dragon Ball Series)

Frieza is easily the best antagonist in the dragon ball series cell and boo are also cool if I had to pick the biggest antagonistic force that I was well accustomed to from my childhood up till now I go with Frieza is deserving despite him not having this super deep backstory or this moral gray complexity that some of the other antagonists on this list do have Frieza is bad to the bone the man is a staple model for what an antagonist should be like when it comes to just being purely evil Frieza did the job and the Frieza saga will always be one of my favorite sagas in all of the anime.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

6. Muzan Kitbutsuji: (Demon Slayer)

A definitive villain responsible for the entirety of this is the tricky Muzan, he isn’t only answerable for different demons, yet he contains immense forces that haven’t been completely observed. Muzan can slaughter a human in a solitary punch and can absorb and break down matter, yet it’s just a hint of something larger with the character. Muzan Kibutsuji shrouds his actual quality and appears as a basic human.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

5. Doflamingo: (One Piece)

One of the favorite antagonists in all of one piece doflamingo has some of the op sayings within all of the manga as well it's a shame that dressrosa as an arc was a little bit sloppy and it was completely carried by doflamingo but despite that he was just such a phenomenal antagonist that despite him not maybe having the best arc the man was a goat doflamingo is an extremely intriguing case as well because he's not somebody who I would say is morally grey the man comes off as pure evil from birth, but his reasoning for being so mad and evil seems a bit justified due to the horrible past that he had, however upon further examination you just kind of know this kid was born twisted and sick also side note this man has one of the best villains laughs in all of anime.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

4. Yoshikage Kira:(Jojo's Bizzare Adventure)

This man has my favorite stand in all of Jojo's killer queen referencing the song and he's just such a sick antagonist and works so well I find it to be very interesting how he has such a sick and twisted mind but yet he talks about wanting to be a normal human being,

He does seem like such a real character and that's due largely in part to the setting of Jojo's part 4 and we see his dynamic when he seems to start falling in love with the woman but yeah he's such a sick twisted individual and he kind of runs the entire part without having to be present all of the time which is a huge bonus for an antagonist so yeah Yoshikage Kira.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

3. Madara Uchiha: (Naruto Shippuden)

A shinobi with a ninjutsu technique for every occasion Madara is not just a ridiculously overpowered villain but also a remarkable one born during a period of endless conflict Madara grew comfortable within the battlefield and would continuously seek out worthy opponents as he aged while he spoke of peace, Madara believed the only viable future was one governed by him leaving everyone else to be subjugated to his might Madara has precious few redeemable traits and barely any weaknesses making him the perfect villain to hate and fear.

Next on the list of anime villains is,

2. Sosuke Aizen: (Bleach)

He was a mild-mannered captain of soul society only to be revealed as a traitor with a god complex Sosuke Aizen has a magnetic personality and the power to back up his boundless arrogance and ambition with a backstory and motives shrouded in mystery,

He gradually became more than just a man in the eyes of his followers and foes more of an unholy entity bound to bring calamity usually the smartest and strongest person in any given room,

Sosuke Aizen loves to play with his prey before slicing them apart with minimal effort while beyond irredeemable and unapologetically evil Sosuke Aizen's cool factor makes it tough to truly detest him.

The last one on the list of anime villains is,

1. Johan Liebert: (Monster)

It's been a long time doctor it's me Naoki Orosawa is the master of psychological thrillers and monster is at least a contender for his best work the anime adaptation captures the true to life horror that defines Johan Liebert,

A killer with seemingly no conscience and who sees no value in human life Johan is charismatic manipulative and also shrouded in mystery as he could be both a product of nature or nurture, Johan's ideology and goal to experience the perfect suicide test dr Tenma's belief in doing what's right while the former strives to break the best humanity has to offer one horrifying act at a time.
